Day 1
Welcome to Rome – First Stop of our Gay Cruise Spartacus Add-On
Welcome to Rome, the first stop of our amazing vacation! Rome: the Eternal City! This is a destination on everyone’s bucket list!
Check-in at the hotel, smack bang in the centre of the city, then feel free to enjoy the rest of the morning as you like. You can relax, enjoy some shopping, do some sightseeing: it is up to you how you want to spend your morning lost in one of the oldest cities of the world!
After lunch on your own, you will meet your Vacation Leader Sergio and your fellow travellers in the early afternoon to enjoy a private walking tour in the heart and soul of Rome. Key sights include Piazza Venezia, to admire Il Vittoriano, the massive faux-classical monument to Italy’s Vittorio Emanuele II as well as the church of the Pantheon. Unmissable stops are the wonderful Piazza Navona and Fontana di Trevi.
Soon after the guided tour, we will head for a local dinner in a not-so-touristy central neighbourhood of Rome for a Complimentary Welcome Dinner.

Day 2
Rome – Florence
After breakfast we take a High Speed Train that brings us directly into Florence.
Check-in at the hotel, then feel free to enjoy the rest of the day as you like: gelato anyone? This charming city will conquer you with its history and fantastic views over the Arno river. In need of ideas on what to do today? Browse this Visit Tuscany Page for inspiration.

Day 3
Florence
In the morning, early breakfast in the hotel. Soon after, the Gay Cruise group will join a walking tour of Florence, which provides insight into the history of the city and its main sights. You will have the opportunity to admire the famous works of Giotto, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci scattered throughout the city; to discover incredible masterpieces including the David, Michelangelo’s masterpiece, in the Gallery of the Academy of Florence; and also to visit the magnificent Santa Maria del Fiore, celebrated for its dome designed by Brunelleschi, and to peer into the Baptistery’s renowned ‘Gates of Paradise’ by Ghiberti.
Spend time in Signoria Square and end the tour at the splendid Ponte Vecchio, also known in English as the ‘Old Bridge’.
The afternoon is free for you to visit Florence at your own pace: why not head to the Boboli garden, situated behind the Pitti Palace? Boboli Park is not only the most famous park in the city of Florence but also where the Medici family created the model of the ‘Italian garden’ which was a source of inspiration for many European courts.
Enjoy the rest of the day to explore Florence on your own, doing some shopping or relaxing back at the hotel. Your Vacation Leader will also offer the opportunity to enjoy the city from a different point of view: ask for his suggestions!
We will head to Oltrarno area, famous for its myriads of bars, cafes and small shops. Admire beautiful views of Florence from the top and have a stroll up to San Miniato al Monte. Later, why not a charming aperitif in Piazzale Michelangelo to appreciate the sunset above Florence before heading to dinner? Italy Gay Travels know the better spots around!
