by Ron Steinacher on Gay Opera Tour
Perfect Enjoyment & Artistry

First, a bit of background is in order. I am not an "opera lover", but I do appreciate the talent and artistry involved. I was raised on pop, country, and folk music. Grandpa was a square dance caller. My husband, however was raised with classical music in the home, especially opera. His grandfather played them on his Victrola as far back as he can remember. My husband has had an opera subscription at the Lyric Opera in Chicago since 1977. So, expecting to just be able to "tolerate" the operas during this trip, we took the first ever opera tour in 2018 with Italy Gay Travels. ("Hubby" was gonna owe me "big time" for this one.) Not only did I absolutely LOVE each and every opera we saw, the opera houses themselves were opulently decorated, awe inspiring works of perfect acoustical craftsmanship. They gave us goosebumps! Since our local guide in Milan had worked at La Scala, she knew every nook and cranny intimately! The Arena in Verona and La Fenice were both equally as spectacular. Our hosts, Kendall and Sergio, saw to it that everything about this week was perfect in every way. We simply can't recommend the Gay Opera Tour with Italy Gay Travels enough. We're already making plans to do it again next year!
