Day 1

Welcome to Naples – First Stop of our Gay Cities of Italy Vacation

Welcome to Naples, the first stop of our amazing vacation throughout central Italy! This vibrant seaside city is renown not only for its amazing food but also for an interesting nightlife. It has been a capital city for centuries: its unique landscape tells it all!

Make your way to your accommodation, smack bang in the centre of the city and settle in. Here you will meet your hosts and get your Gay Capitals of Italy Vacation welcome brief.

Join your fellow Gay Travellers and your Vacation Leader, Sergio, in the evening for a Complimentary Welcome Dinner. Here we will all get to meet each other and have a full briefing on the adventure that lies ahead.

After dinner we will enjoy a drink or two around Piazza Bellini,  the heart of the Gay nightlife of this city.

  • Meals included: Welcome Dinner

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast the Gay Capitals of Italy Vacation group will meet for a private tour of Naples. We will visit famous landmarks of the Old Town of Naples, such as the Spaccanapoli and the Spanish Quarters. The area is rich both in popular culture (San Gregorio Armeno and its street art being the symbol of the area) and historical landmarks, including many noteworthy churches.

Free time for lunch: why not enjoy the famous Piazza Bellini, a bustling Piazza in the center of the city? There you will find a multitude of gay friendly restaurants, cafes, and bars?

In the afternoon our group will follow the tour leader in a private stroll across the centre of the city. Sergio will show you his favorite spots of the most beautiful city in the world (according to him). Passing through Via Toledo, Pignasecca, the Spanish Quarters you will end up into Piazza Plebiscito and Castel dell’Ovo. This seaside castle’s name derives from a legend about the Roman poet Virgil and the oldest standing fortification in Naples. From here you can enjoy the beautiful sea view and admire Mount Vesuvius.

  • Meals included: Breakfast

Day 3

Today, after breakfast, we will make our way to the marina. We will step on a hydrofoil and reach  the island of Capri, in style. Capri has long been a hotspot for European gay life from the early 20th century. Once in Capri, we will join a small group boat that will drive us around the island: we will have the opportunity to have a dip off the boat and splash in the crystalline waters of the bay. After the boat ride you will have free time to enjoy lunch and a stroll in Capri: around its famous Piazzetta you will discover fashion streets and glamourous boutiques. In the late afternoon we enjoy aperitifs as we soak up this breathtaking scenery before taking a boat back to Napoli.

In the evening enjoy a complimentary typical Pizza Dinner in the centre of Naples: we will make sure you have a taste of the best South-Italian food around.

  • Meals included: Breakfast, Pizza Dinner

Day 4

Naples – Florence

A late afternoon tour of one of the most beautiful off the beaten tracks areas of Florence is next on the Gay Capitals of Italy Vacation of course!  We head to Oltrarno area, famous for its miriads of bars, cafes and small shops. Admire beautiful views of Florence from the top and have a stroll up to San Miniato al Monte.

Later,  why not a charming aperitif near Piazzale Michelangelo to appreciate the sunset above Florence before heading to dinner? Italy Gay Travels know the better spots around!

Optional typical dinner in the area of San Niccolo’ in Oltrarno.

Day 5

In the morning, early breakfast in the hotel. Soon after, the group will join a walking tour of Florence, which provides insight into the history of the city and its main sights. You will have the opportunity to admire the famous works of Giotto, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci scattered throughout the city; to discover incredible masterpieces including the David, Michelangelo’s masterpiece, in the Gallery of the Academy of Florence; and also to visit the magnificent Santa Maria del Fiore, celebrated for its dome designed by Brunelleschi, and to peer into the Baptistery’s renowned ‘Gates of Paradise’ by Ghiberti.

Spend time in Signoria Square and end the tour at the splendid Ponte Vecchio, also known in English as the ‘Old Bridge’. The afternoon is free for you to visit Florence at your own pace: why not head to the Boboli garden, situated behind the Pitti Palace? Boboli Park is not only the most famous park in the city of Florence but also where the Medici family created the model of the ‘Italian garden’ which was a source of inspiration for many European courts.

Enjoy the rest of the day to explore Florence on your own, doing some shopping or relaxing back at the hotel. Your Vacation Leader will also offer the opportunity to enjoy the city from a different point of view: ask for his suggestions!
